Jakarta and Bandung. Two cities within Indonesia. Even though in the same country, different things and climate in the two cities. Bandung was more like a London summer with cold breezy evenings, whereas Jakarta was hot all day. (I didn’t go to Bali because of an earthquake near the area at the time).
Jakarta
The food in Jakarta is really good (and cheap). Street food to try such as their satays (which include chicken or beef) – prefer chicken. My favourite food was actually a ‘dessert’ called Martabak! I loved it so much. The filling of the cake reminded me of Orea’s but it was something more traditional used. Jakarta was the place I tried my first durian – and will probably be my last. I’ve heard some people like the taste whilst others don’t. I liked the smell but the taste did not agree with me!
Jakarta is VERY busy with traffic all the time and can be troublesome. There is not really a public transport so most people have their own cars to commute around. I was able to travel around Jakarta (as well as to Bandung) via car as I was very fortunate to have a friend living in Jakarta.

Also, there aren’t many tourist attractions in Jakarta itself – though good place to do transit flights from due to it’s price. Places to visit include the Monas, the old town and also the light installation at the Aeon Mall!!
Bandung
Bandung was a 4 hour car journey from Jakarta. I feel the city is much more adapted to tourists. I went to a rooftop restaurant for the first time. Sadly the weather was bad so couldn’t go to the balcony, but had a good view nonetheless.
Visiting Kawah Putih is recommended and was really pretty with the blue water, though smelly because of the sulphur in the lake.

Catching the sunrise is a must in Indonesia. My friend recommended that we go to Tebing Keraton in Bandung for the sunrise. Woke up at 4 am to catch it and it was worth it!
Lodge mariabyu is a good place to go to take those ‘instagram’ worthy photos. They have many places set up such as a swing in the middle of the air which is really high up!!
Overall, my trip was a fun one and made amazing memories travelling with old and new friends! My only regret would be to have maybe spent a day longer in Bandung (though I couldn’t as my uni classes were starting the next day, as I’m currently doing a year abroad in Singapore).
