My first impression of Singapore when landed was that the weather was too humid for me, but overall the weather itself was perfect, there was an odd glimpse of rain though. The reason I went to visit Singapore was because of my brother doing his year abroad there, the university was really big, and what was interesting was that some of his friends knew about lboro university.

Before visiting Singapore, I made a really big list of food to try there, it was a country rich in diversity in terms of food and also people. My favourite food which I tried was the Dorayaki which is a red bean paste filled pancake, funny enough it was a popular dish in Japan too. Also I tried duck, the taste was actually ok. The thing which I was addicted to when in Singapore was the Koi milk tea, it was amazing, I got the chocolate flavour. Another thing which stood out was the public transport system, there was little details which made it better compared to London’s TFL.

One of the main attractions to visit in Singapore would be the Garden by the Bay, this was like a big green area in Singapore, and you could walk around most areas for free. We visited the Supertree Grove and also the flower dome, the Supertree grove is one of those iconic symbols of Singapore. I would recommend visiting it during the day and also the night for a light show which was really good.

Also, if you get any days off, I recommend going to Universal Studio for chilled fun day out, the best part of it was that we went in September on a weekday so there was literally no queues for all the rides. We managed to get on all the rides apart from like the big roller-coasters, because we were still too scared of them.

The day which my brother had to go to lectures, I managed to steal some of his friends to show me around, they took me to the Hawker centre, if anyone has watched ‘Crazy Rich Asians’, this was the place where they have the meal when arrived in Singapore, the area around the stall centre showed what the local districts in Singapore looked like. Compare this to the Orchard Street which was seen as the Oxford street of Singapore, where there were high street shop.

One of the desserts which my brother wanted to try was Maccha Tiramisu, which was a layered vanilla sponge cake with cream cheese with maccha (green tea leaves) powder. The cake was soft to eat and maccha flavour was really strong.

If you’re a fan of Disney, Tsum Tsum lanterns is a must, they were lanterns in the shape of Disney characters, they were so cute and colourful. It’s located at the VivoCity’s Sky Park, but they are only available during Autumn which was really nice for us.

To sum up my experience in Singapore, I would have to say it was fun and enjoyable with my brother.
